2021 Tianjin joint academic annual conference on mathematics and statistics was held in Nankai

On October 17th, 2021 Tianjin joint academic annual conference on mathematics and statistics was held in Nankai. As part of a series of  activities in honor of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Shiing-Shen Chern, this conference consisted of opening ceremony,  prize presentation for young scholars, invited talk, seminar, etc.

Ma Zhiming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher of Chinese Academy of Sciences, dean of School of Statistics and Data Science of Nankai University; Tian Gang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, president of Chinese Mathematical Society, chair professor of Peking University; Jiang Song, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of Physical Sciences Division of the National Natural Science Foundation, researcher of Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, attended and gave invited talk. More than 150 people attended the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, more than 170 people work in the field of science and technology  participated online. Wang Zhaojun, president of Society for Industrial and Applied  Mathematics, presided over the opening ceremony.

This conference was part of a series of  activities in honor of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Shiing-Shen Chern. Academician Zhang Weiping recalled the founding history of the Institute of Mathematics in Nankai University and the great efforts and outstanding contributions that Mr Shiing-Shen Chern made for the development of mathematics in China. He sincerely hoped them all could make arduous efforts for the same. 

Academician Ma Zhiming, Tian Gang, Jiang Song, Zhang Weiping presented prizes for young scholars. They were researcher Chang Huibin from Tianjin Normal University, professor Guang xuan, associate professor Ma Shingguang from Nankai University, associate researcher Xu tian, associate professor Zheng Youquan from Tianjin university.

After the opening ceremony, academician Ma Zhiming, Tian Gang, Jiang Song gave invited talk "information communication and mathematics", "geometric stability", "asymptotic preserving a asymptotic preserving schemes for radiative transfer systems"  respectively.

This joint academic annual conference was co-hosted both online and offline by Tianjin Mathematical Society, Tianjin Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Tianjin Institute of Field Statistics and Shijing-Shen Chern Institute of Mathematics with the support of Tianjin Association for Science and Technology.

This conference provided profound  mathematical problems, cutting-edge research methods and opportunities of academic exchange, which stimulated the coordinated development of fundamental mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics.
