Joint Nankai-Melbourne Master of Actuarial Science degree

Program introduction

The University of Melbourne (Graduate School of Business and Economics) and Nankai University (School of Mathematical Sciences) further expand their cooperation by offering NKU students the opportunity to study in the Master of Actuarial Science degree program at UM. It is also established that qualifying students from UM may enroll to study in the Master of Applied Mathematics at NKU.

Students should fulfil all the academic requirements within a period of two years and a half. Two degrees (Master of Actuarial Science and Master of Applied Mathematics) will be awarded by The University of Melbourne and Nankai University.

  

Degree structure

Semester 1 at Nankai (August-January)Probability and Statistics, Applied Stochastic Processes, AccountingEnglish

Semesters 2 and 3 at Melbourne (February-November)4 actuarial science subjects

each semester including mathematics for life insurance,general insurance and financialproducts

Semesters 4 and 5 at Nankai (February-next January)Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Business Finance, Numerical Techniques, dissertation


Admission

For admission into the Program, students must meet the standards below

1.Satisfy entrance requirementsof both universities

2.Strong English languageskills:

IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band

TOEFL577 plus TWE 5.0

TOEFL (Computer Based): 233 plus 5.0 on the Essay Rating;

TOEFL(Internet Based)90 plus 24 in Writing, with no less than 21 in any band
